Bike Library

Below is list of rescued bikes that have been serviced or reconditioned. It seems strange to me that a fully functional bicycle is worth nothing on the second hand market. I could write an essay here decrying the values of our throw away society. I will however save your time and mine, and instead offer these recently restored bikes to any of my neighbours for nothing more than an assurance that they will ride them, bring them to me to be serviced on occasion, and return them when they are no longer being ridden.

If you have a bicycle that you are no longer using, and have discovered like me that no one wants to buy a second hand bicycle, please drop it to me. I would love to give it a service and lend it to a local who wants to enjoy the simple pleasure of riding a bike.

Mens Street Bike – Black

Make: Reid
Size: Medium frame suit someone 160-175cm
Gears: 3 x 7
Wheel size: 26″ with 35mm MTB tires
Comments: Light, easy and comfortable to ride. A set of road tyres could make it a decent commuter. New brake and gear cables, new grips. This one cost a few bucks so a donation would be appreciated.
Status: lent out

White Kids Bike

Make: XDS
Size: would suit a 8-12 year old depending on height.
Gears: 3 x 7
Wheel size: 24″ with 35mm tires
Comments: This bike is lighter and therefore faster than the fashionable ‘mountain bike’ style that is common. If you want your son or daughter to keep up on a ride to Brighton le Sands on the weekend this will suit. You may even get dropped.
